Brown and Serve Rolls are an Avon Park original invention. Joe Gregor, local bakery owner discovered by accident that these rolls could be partially cooked in the bakery and then taken home and finish the cooking process. Joe was a volunteer fireman with the Avon Park Fire Department when his baking process was interrupted by the fire siren causing him to go to the fire and turning off his oven of partially cooked rolls. "The rest is history"..as we would say!
