Direct Image URLs and Ingestion for Candidate Media

Four candidate visual assets were audited against the Rights Test and the direct-image-URL constraint for archival ingestion:

  1. Florida Memory Avon Park depot (Asset 1): A circa-1926 photograph of the Atlantic Coast Line depot. Carries a Public Domain Mark 1.0. A direct image URL was identified and the asset was successfully ingested as florida-memory-avon-park-depot-1926.jpg with full metadata.
  2. LOC Pine Crest Lakes (Asset 2): A 1900 photograph of the Pine Crest Lakes Country Club. Verified as published in the United States before 1930 with “No known restrictions on publication,” satisfying the Rights Test. A direct IIIF tile URL was isolated and the asset was successfully ingested as loc-pine-crest-lakes-1900.jpg with full metadata.
  3. NARA Avon Park Army Air Field (Asset 3): Identified as a textual and cartographic collection (NAID 630563) not digitized online. As no direct image URL was available, this asset was rejected for image ingestion.
  4. USGS Avon Park quadrangle (Asset 4): A 2021 topographic map. Though a public domain U.S. Government Work, the available download is a PDF document rather than a direct image file (.jpg, .png). Consequently, it was rejected for image ingestion.

The successfully ingested assets provide direct visual corroboration for the operating history of the Atlantic Coast Line Railroad branch in Avon Park and the architectural footprint of early resort hotels such as the Pine Crest Lakes Country Club.
