Depot Museum Exhibits

The Depot Museum’s exhibits fill the 1926 Seaboard Air Line passenger station room by room, preserving the artifacts, photographs, and memories that shaped Avon Park and the Ridge. Explore our permanent collections and featured exhibits below:

  • Brown 'n Serve Rolls

How Joe Gregor of the Avon Park Bakery turned off an oven to fight a fire and discovered Brown 'n Serve rolls.

  • The High School Circus

Costumes, photographs, and memories from the 1950s when Avon Park High School students trained with Ringling Brothers for physical education credit.

  • The Military Room

Uniforms, documents and photographs from Avon Park's service in both World Wars, with a 1940 Zenith radio that still plays Roosevelt's declaration of war.

  • The Old Home

The way an Avon Park home kitchen looked in the early 1900s: an oak ice box, heavy stove irons, crocks, lace and early household gadgets.

  • The Telephone Switchboard

The two-operator switchboard United Telephone used until 1985 — the last of its kind in Florida, connecting eight towns across the Heartland.
