Frontispiece plate, Common Sense about Florida, 1888

The uncaptioned photographic plate facing the opening page of O. M. Crosby’s 1888 book: a lake seen through longleaf pines hung with Spanish moss, with a small sailboat on the water and two figures on the near shore. The book does not name the lake, and no caption appears on the plate, so it should not be identified with any particular Avon Park lake without further evidence.

The scan is the second, better exposure of the plate in the digitized Florida State Library copy; the plate was photographed sideways and has been rotated upright here. Nothing else was altered.
