Babe Ruth and Spring Training

The spring training clubs and touring legends who played in Avon Park: the 1920s Cardinals camps, the 1932 House of David tour, and Babe Ruth's game bat.

A wooden and glass museum display case housing an authentic Babe Ruth game-model bat with historic baseball memorabilia.

During the golden age of Florida spring training, major league clubs and barnstorming teams traveled through the Heartland to train and play exhibition games on Avon Park diamonds.

The St. Louis Cardinals held early workouts here between 1927 and 1929, followed by visits from the Toledo Mud Hens and the world-famous House of David touring club in 1932.

The centerpiece of this exhibit is an authenticated game-model bat associated with George Herman “Babe Ruth,” presented in a custom glass display case alongside period baseballs, photographs, and spring training game programs from the 1920s and 1930s.
