William H. Yates
William H. Yates (1880 – 1940) was the office manager and later general manager of the Highlands Crate Company and Avon Manufacturing Company crate mills in Avon Park.[brooksville-1931]
Yates served as the office manager for both companies under general manager J. A. Caldwell for several years. Following Caldwell’s death in the first half of 1931, the board of directors of the Polk County Sub-Exchange (which managed both subsidiary plants) met in Bartow in June 1931 and elected Yates to succeed Caldwell as general manager.[brooksville-1931]
Yates died in 1940 and is buried in Bougainvillea Cemetery in Avon Park.[fag-yates]
